STUDENT VEHICLE REGISTRATION
RESIDENTS OF RESIDENCE HALLS, NORTHGATE
APARTMENTS OR CAMPUS WALK APARTMENTS:
If you will live in a residence hall or a Northgate
or Campus Walk apartment, UPD will distribute your decal to you in
conjunction with Student Housing’s official “Groovin’ At Move-In Day” on
Friday, August 19. Parking Services will have tables set up in the
following locations on August 19 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. to hand out
decals – YOU MUST HAVE YOUR STUDENT ID WITH YOU:
Kincannon/Stockard/Martin residents – Stockard /Martin Lobby
Guess residents – Guess Lobby
Hefley, Brown, Deaton, Stewart, Crosby, Northgate – Crosby Lobby
Residential College South/Luckyday Residential College – Residential
College South Lobby
Campus Walk – Campus Walk Office Lobby
NOTE: Because this year Student Housing & Residence Life department is
allowing students the option to change their residence hall/Northgate or
Campus Walk apartment selection until July 20, we are asking these
residents to wait until at least July 25 to go online to place their
decal order in case their residence hall/apartment selection changes
between now and then. This will prevent a student from incurring
multiple decal fees.
COMMUTERS:
Commuters must submit their decal order by Thursday, August 11, in order
for the Parking Services Office to be able to mail to you your decal in
a timely manner. Rather than your permanent home address, UPD can mail
the decal to your local Oxford address if you like – but it is critical
that you give us a correct, complete local address – don’t forget your
apartment number in the address.
We have three types of commuter decals:
Commuter Law Decal – for commuting law students [who
are not opting for the South Lot Decal or the new Old Wal-Mart Decal).
This special commuter decal clearly associates you and your vehicle as a
law student. With this type decal you are assigned to park in any area
designated for regular commuters as depicted on the color-coded parking
guide map.
Campus Walk Commuter Decal – for students residing in
the Campus Walk Apartment Complex. This special commuter decal clearly
associates you and your vehicle as a resident of the complex. When
coming into the main part of campus you will be allowed to park in any
area designated for regular commuters as depicted on the color-coded
parking guide map.
Commuter Decal – the regular commuter decal we have
always offered [for those who are not opting for the South Lot Decal or
the Old Walmart Decal]
VILLAGE RESIDENTS:
You are to submit your decal order by Thursday, August 11, in order for
Parking Services Office to be able to mail to you your decal in a timely
manner. The decal will be mailed to you at the post office box you
indicate – mail is not delivered to the Village buildings.
SORORITY & FRATERNITY HOUSE RESIDENTS:
The Dean of Students Office is to provide Parking Services with the
names of the students who will be living in each greek house. Your name
must be on this official list in order that a sorority or fraternity
decal be issued to you.
You are to go online and order your decal, and have waited at least
24-hours after entering your registration information. To receive your
decal, you must come to the Parking Services Office in Kinard Hall
between 8am-5pm weekdays. Be prepared to stand in a line along with
other students.
You must present your Ole Miss student ID to receive your decal.
“PARK & RIDE” PERMITS - SOUTH LOT & OLD WALMART DECALS for
COMMUTERS:
Commuting students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the -
“PARK & RIDE” Permits – this involves a reduced decal fee – you will be
charged only $20 rather than the regular $75. You just drive to campus
and park in the South Lot or the Old Walmart Lot – the OUT Bus Transit
will pick you up free with your UM student ID and will drop you off in
the heart of campus. You catch the OUT back to your car after class. The
only conditions associated with these 2 special PARK & RIDE permits are:
- you are allowed to park only in the South Lot or
the Old Walmart Lot from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. weekdays; but you are
allowed to park anywhere on campus after 5:00 p.m. weekdays and anytime
on weekends - if found parked somewhere
other than the South Lot or Old Walmart Lot from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
weekdays [to include the Union Parking Lot], you would be subject to a
parking citation for restricted parking with an enhanced penalty [1st
offense $30, 2nd offense $50, 3rd/subsequent offenses $90)
** You save $55
** Park in the South Lot or Old Walmart Lot where there is always ample
parking
** Get a free bus ride from your car to the heart of campus – the OUT is
reliable and on time
** Avoid the frustration and hassle of driving around looking for a
legal parking place in time to get to class
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL STUDENTS:
Make sure you order the correct decal. The type decal you are issued is
determined by where you will reside. If you do not know which residence
hall you will live in, do not place an online decal order – just come to
the Parking Services Office when you arrive on campus in August. DECALS
ARE NONREFUNDABLE AND NONTRANSFERRABLE.
Caution:
After you have completed the brief online vehicle registration
procedure, DO NOT re-enter the information with the concern that perhaps
the information/your order did not go through. By doing so, you will
have ordered a second/additional decal and will be charged an
administrative fee accordingly – no exceptions. If you are concerned as
to whether your decal order was received, contact the Parking Services
Office staff for assistance.
The decal fee will be posted later to your bursar account.
